to go on my line? In what order and what distance apart. Also, should I use a weight or an egg sinker? I am fishing off of a pier at Goose Island in Salt Water for whatever bites. Thank you for your help and for not making wisecracks as I truly want to learn to fish. Oh yeah, one more thing what about the swivel?

you distance them for the area and the current. i would use and egg sinker as it will be heavier and will have less drag on the current. i would do egg on top about two feet and then the bobber and then about a foot or two and then the hook so your bait will float in the current. i would also use a leader depending on where you are. and get some good knots that you can tie. for the egg sinker its simple run a loop of line through the eye and then pull it around the weight to secure it a little it will make a small cinch knot that can be taken out at anytime. the others you may want to get a book or look online for fishing knots

Since you're fishing in salt water, I recommend a steel leader between your line and the swivel and hook. Use the egg sinker, and just run the line thru it (don't tie it off), attach the leader, swivel (if you must/can), then hook. The sinker will hit the bottom, but the bait will raise a little if you leave a little slack in the line.

If you're going to use the bobber, put it about 2-3 feet above the leader.

Have fun.

to have some one tell you how to rig a poll in person is sometimes hard but to try it on the comp. is really bad you should find a place where there are people already fishing and just walk up and ask what am i doing wrong people do that to me all the time and every body loves to tell other people how to fish or at least i do and if they are asses then just look at what they are doing you'll see the guy who is catching all the fish hes the one to watch or ask
