If it were not, the New York State conservation authorities would have clearly marked and posted it as being a Catch & Release fishery only with a warning that the fish were NOT safe to consume. Their state fishing regulations would ALSO have the lakes indicated also as such. I wouldn't hesitate to fish them and consume the fish I catch there.

I don't know your area, but live in FLA where there are many ponds around golf courses and gated communities. If there is any landscaping activity, fertilizing or industry in the immediate area where your pond is, then no, I would eat any fish from it. If it's brackish water that's flushed out by tides, then maybe OK. If none of the above , then go for it..

Every river, pond or lake will have some sort of mercury in it. But as long as you limit your daily consumption & properly cook the fish, then you should be fine.

Its safe to eat them but they say to limit it to around 20 times or less a month
