Well do you think it hurts them when you scale them while alive and then cut out their guts?

No. As a matter of fact I'm going fishing in a little while here. I'll listen for the screaming. The only thing I know of is when I go out on the water I can see it almost shaking. It's the fish trembling in fear of me. :) I told that to one guy and he said "You're funny, do you come with a boat?". lol

I've heard about studies where individuals have tested the electro-signals associated with pain in fishes brains in a typical fishing situation. They "can" feel pain. But who cares, you're going to die anyway, fish!

they dont have any pain receptors in their mouths. Alot of fish have spines themselves and so if fish could not eat other fish then they would starve. So they have adapted to not having pain repeptors in their mouth so that they could eat other fishes with spines.
