The first answer was good. As you cast the line back in forth remember to use your elbow. They say ten and two. If you only use your wrist you get a whip effect which is bad. Look for nice loops as you practice. Your line should never lash like a whip. Remember you are casting the line not the lure. I just bought a fly fishing rod myself and also bought the fly fishing video and practice, practice, practice. I would recommend the video because of the tips on other types of casting.

really easy

1. bring out about 20 feet of line and let it lie by your feet

2.then hang on to the line but with a light grip and bring the pole back and every time you bring it back let line out but the more line you let out you need to make a whipping sound with the line and to bring it in just pull then line in relly slowly i have been fly fishing for like 20 years it is fun once you get the hang of the rod i have the state record for trout in kansas. HAVE FUNNNN!!!!!!!
