Bluefish head as shark bait...?

Fisherman's question, have any of you ever tried this? I looked into it and I found out that sharks will indeed go after bluefish, but would the head be enough? I tried skate wing last year with no results whatsoever. Long story short, I'm tired of catching sand sharks and want to get something bigger from the shore. Give me some recommendations because this year I'm aiming to catch something like a sand tiger, bull, sandbar, or dusky this year (at nighttime of course). I don't own nor do I know how to operate a kayak so I cannot use large bait.

A bluefish head will work fine. Try balloon fishing to keep your bait off the bottom. Whether you fish day or night, the balloon popping when it's dragged under will alert you that you have a fish on. Use Water balloons, they pop easier when dragged under. Simply tie on a balloon to your line where you will be able to get maximum casting distance somewhere along your leader system. The bait will be near the surface and spread more scent farther than just sitting on the bottom. Give it a try. ~good luck catchin'.

Sand sharks are bottom feeders which will eat just about any kind of fishy stuff they find out there. So a fish head would work for them if they're big enough to eat it (or eat enough of it to get to the hook). However, the bigger types of sharks will want more "real" bait. A fish head won't be as attractive as a piece of fish flesh (bluefish or whatever). Try a strip of fish, with the skin still on it, and hook it through the skin.

Skate wings are not as oily or bloody as pieces of regular fish, so I wouldn't expect them to work too well.

squid. yet peel all of the purple off exposing a intense high quality mind-blowing white epidermis then cut back into long strips. use a #6 eagle claw steel shank hook and thread the bait weaving out and in on the very tip of the bait onto the hook and bypass away adequate to hold brightly captivating, each little thing. do no longer artwork it although. Use a .25 egg shaped weight and save it 6-8" from the hook. this might make your bait glide interior the wave modern and stay off the backside. forged your line into the surf basically the place the water breaks. the 1st white wave or crest you spot this is the place the fish all surf fish are. each now and then this is basically 10 feet removed from the coastline! Sharks...are affected person. often, they take a seat long in front of a bait before shifting in on it. Reel your line in approximately each 5-8 minutes regardless in case you have a success or no longer as maximum sharks will devourer your bait and basically lay there no longer understanding that they are hooked until you start up reeling them in. constantly positioned on tennis footwear which you will positioned on into the sea (no longer so good ones) and step on the decrease back of their head while removing the hook. Use pliers and leather-based gloves regardless of their length. do no longer consume something over 5' or something below 2'. Fish every time of day as sharks are constantly present. constantly be conscious of individuals swimming. often, while they see you pull a shark out of the water they scramble. I constantly announce to those interior listening to selection that i'm bringing something in and that i then walk out into the water to fulfill despite this is that I even have on my line. manage with authentic care and in case you pick for to no longer save it get it decrease back into the water asap! as all human beings is often watching. happy fishing! i'm jealous.

you can probably rent a kayak from a surf and water activity store near you but otherwise, unless you can cast super far, your only other option is to try charter fishing. you can pay the guys to take you out on thier boat and go shark fishing.

bluefish heads work well but a fresh bunker head will work better
